Our Process

Every recommendation we make is the product of a defined, repeatable process. We document each stage, communicate clearly at every step, and ensure clients have everything they need before any decision is finalized. If you want to know exactly what working with Maize Jewelry & Co. involves — before committing to anything — this page is the right place to start.

01

Private Consultation

Every engagement begins with a structured, private consultation. This is where we establish the full scope of your requirements: stone type, shape, carat range, performance priorities, setting context, budget, and timeline.

The consultation is educational and analytical — not a sales call. You will leave with a clear understanding of what the market can realistically offer within your parameters, how to interpret the certification data that matters most, and what trade-offs exist between competing priorities. This foundation ensures that every sourcing recommendation that follows is genuinely aligned with your goals, not with available inventory.

There is no obligation to proceed following an initial consultation.

02

Specification Development

Following the consultation, we translate your priorities into a precise sourcing specification. This document defines acceptable ranges for table percentage, depth percentage, crown and pavilion angles, length-to-width ratio, and relevant fluorescence or inclusion parameters. It also establishes the certification thresholds — IGI or GIA — we will apply during evaluation.

This specification is the objective benchmark against which every candidate stone is assessed. It ensures our sourcing is disciplined and accountable rather than discretionary.

03

Precision Sourcing and Vetting

With a completed specification in hand, we begin sourcing through verified supplier channels. Every candidate stone is subjected to multi-point vetting before it advances to your review: independent certification review confirming internal consistency of the grade data, proportion analysis evaluating table and depth balance, crown and pavilion angle relationships, and predicted light performance, and exclusion of any stone that fails to meet specification on any dimension — regardless of how appealing other attributes may appear.

This process is thorough by design. Our goal is to ensure that only genuinely qualified candidates reach your review stage.

04

Client Review and Documentation

When we have identified stones that meet your specification, we prepare a curated review package including the candidate options with proportion data and certification references, a performance and proportion summary for each stone in plain language, current pricing with full transparency, and notes on distinguishing characteristics and trade-offs between options.

This package is provided in advance of any purchase decision. You are encouraged to review it carefully, ask questions, and take whatever time you need. There is no deadline imposed at this stage. Confidence matters more than speed.

05

Confirmation and Purchase

Purchases are completed only after you have reviewed all materials and formally confirmed your selection. Transactions are handled offline through a documented process that includes invoicing, payment confirmation, and receipt issuance. Certification documentation accompanies every completed purchase. All records are retained and provided to you.

06

Post-Purchase Support

Our responsibility does not end at the point of sale. We remain available to address questions about care, setting considerations, or appraisal documentation following your purchase. If questions arise about your transaction records or certification, we can provide supporting materials as needed.

Now that you know what the process looks like, the next step is a conversation.
